Internet Forums, Chat, etc.The use of the Internet is another great way of reaching people today. Many people do not want to go to church any more, but will spend time on a forum or chat line discussing various points of beliefs. Others will silently search the Internet at their leisure either in the privacy of their own home, Internet cafe, etc. for information. There are many and varied ways you can set up a web page, forum or chat line, but they all need an important thing - a catch line or information to get people to come. Once at a web site people will stay and look if the page is attractive, loads fairly fast, is not hard to read, and has something that interests them. Keep in mind that if your page loads too slowly people may leave before they see anything. If you have a wide variety of subjects you are more likely to attract more traffic then if you have only one topic. Do not go overboard on the variety of topics that you present on your site either. If it is a religious site, stick to things that relate in some way to religion. For example you could include Bible studies, short Christian stories, and some thing for children. But you should not include things like questionable tabloid articles, buying and selling of everyday things, etc. With this form of outreach you may never know until you get to heaven how many people you have reached or helped get there also, because very few people will contact you. © February, 2004 by D & S Goeldner. |
